Visit Bowood House & Gardens on Saturday 14th July, 11am to 2pm to see a collection of pre-war Riley cars, organised by the Wiltshire Area of the Riley Register.
The Riley car was made in Coventry with its heyday being the period from 1927 to 1939. They made over 40 different model/engine combination of cars ranging from saloons, open tourers and sporting cars. Unfortunately the company went into liquidation in 1939 and it was sold to the Nuffield corporation for £1. In the mid 1960’s the Riley Register was set up to provide spares, technical advice and support and today has ca. 1500 members across a number of counties.
