June 16, 10:30 am - 2:00 pm
New for 2020, enjoy a fascinating tour of Bowood’s spectacular gardens, with David Glass, Bowood’s Head Gardener for over 13 years.
This exclusive experience includes a 90 minute guided tour of Lord and Lady Lansdowne’s private walled garden with Bowood’s Head Gardener David Glass. Also included is general admission to Bowood House & Gardens, followed by a one course lunch served in the Stables Restaurant.
Roses! Roses! In June the Bowood gardens are awash with a wide selection of roses, including shrub and climbing roses. The four acre walled garden in particular features climbing roses on the walls with different aspects and David will discuss what they look for in a good Rose, where to plant them and how to manage them to achieve the best display. He will explain how the Roses are pruned and the techniques they use to train them on the walls. The tour will begin with the south facing terraces and the many shrub roses on display before moving onto the integration of the roses into mixed borders and finally the wall-trained roses throughout the walled garden.
Maximum 15 people per group.
