The summer has certainly arrived and school’s out until September.
We have a whole host of fun to keep the little ones occupied at Bowood House & Gardens this Summer. Don’t forget the outdoor summer theatres and cinema, guaranteed fun for all the family with final places still available.

ARTS AND CRAFTS
We’ll have Arts and Crafts every weekend in the Adventure Playground from 30th July to 29th August*
Taking place on a Saturday & Sunday, between 11am – 3pm.
*Please note this will be weather dependent.

NATURE EXPLORERS
Pick up one of our Nature Explorer Booklets from admissions on arrival and have fun exploring the grounds, using your senses, and taking part in the Scavenger Hunt. Download a PDF version HERE.

BECOME A BOWOOD DETECTIVE
Collect one of our new Bowood Detective worksheets from admissions, become a detective for the day, and hunt for clues around the grounds and terraces.

Wildlife at Bowood

GUIDED BUG HUNT TOURS

This Summer we are offering complimentary guided bug hunt nature trails through the grounds. So grab your magnifying glass and off we go!
Please note, limited numbers apply on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dates:

  • Thursday 11th August – (due to the high temperatures this week, please note this tour has been cancelled on this date.)
  • Thursday 18th August at 1.30pm

Please meet at The Gardeners Bothy 10 minutes prior. Suitable for ages: 5 – 12 years, children must be accompanied by an adult.

The trail will last between 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Due to the nature of the tour, we can only accept a maximum of 25 people including children and 1 x accompanying adult per child.

First come first served basis, register your interest with admissions on the morning of the above dates.

BOWOOD PARKLAND TOUR

We are also offering a complimentary Parkland Tour of the Arboretum and grounds on Friday 26th August at 2pm.

The park is considered to be one of ‘Capability’ Brown’s finest creations. With a mix of wooded plantations and sweeping lawns leading down to a mile-long winding lake, the Bowood landscape has an exceptionally interesting history, which will be revealed in this tour.

Due to the nature of the tour, we can only accept a maximum of 25 people. This tour is specifically aimed at adults. Lasts around 60 minutes.

The ‘Yo Ho Ho Pirate Puppet Show’ in the Adventure Playground

A happy tale of adventure on the Seven Seas.  Davey meets Captain Cutlass and sails away on board ‘The Happy Harry’ as a cabin boy. The Captain is searching for the elusive Mermaid’s Pearl, and together they have fun with sea creatures, Black Jack the Bad Pirate, and a beautiful mermaid. This is an original tale told with beautifully crafted glove puppets with plenty of fun for the audience to join in the pirate adventure. 

No need to book, visit the Adventure Playground at the times above to enjoy the show. The show is included in the price of your day ticket to Bowood.
