October brings with it a plethora of important awareness days and weeks which each rightly deserve to be recognised by anyone passionate about health and well-being.

Some of these high profile occasions include Mental Health Awareness Day, National Work Life Week, Back Care Awareness Week as well as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

One of the things that all of the above have in common is their ability to be aided by being mindful both to yourself and to others.

As the chillier weather also starts to settle in, taking into consideration the above, we’ve decided to use this an opportunity to put some time to one side to focus on the most complex part of ourselves, our minds.

What is mindfulness?

According to The Good Spa Guide, mindfulness is reconnecting with our bodies and the sensations we experience. This means waking up to the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the present moment and shutting out external ‘noise’.

How might you ask?

When we first opened The Spa at Bowood, we challenged ourselves to become the masters of mindfulness in all that we offer due to it’s extensive benefits to one’s health and wellbeing.

Here are a few of the ways which we try to do this…

#1 - Treatment

All of our Spa Treatments here at The Spa at Bowood offer a holistic, as well as relieving formulas.

When we were crafting October’s Treatment of the Month, we decided it would be foolish not to use this theme to provide a superior experience to those looking to improve their awareness or looking to find other ways to clear their mind.

This months Treatment of the Month is a 45-minute Hot Stones Back Massage and is available as an upgrade on all our Spa Days and Spa Breaks throughout October or as a singular treatment for £60.


#2 - Jennifer Young

Jennifer Young are the masters of mindfulness and specialist beauty. Their formulas are specifically created for those either with very sensitive skin or perhaps have been weathering the effects of chemotherapy.

All of our beauty therapists have been trained by Jennifer Young to offer bespoke sensual spa experiences for those who perhaps in the past have never been able to experience beauty treatments due to certain conditions.

Last month, we launch our brand new Jennifer Young Spa Day & Jennifer Young Spa Break should you wish to get away from it all and focus on you this October.

#3 - Relaxation

Earlier this year, we invested in creating a dreamy space which we could use to help our Spa Members and guests relax in.

With its quilted loungers, deep chairs and sofas all pointing towards a state of the art floating fireplace, it is a haven for peace of mind and tranquillity.

#4 - Healthy Eating

Being mindful of your diet is an important way to fuel the mind with goodness.

Our various eateries here at Bowood all have an adequate range of both healthy dishes as well as extensive vegetarian and vegan options which we’re always looking to expand and improve.
