Have a Question about your Wedding?

Firstly… huge congratulations, from everyone at Bowood, on your forthcoming wedding! Planning a wedding is an extremely exciting time for newly engaged couples and you probably have lots of questions. To help get you started we have pulled together some handy FAQ’s to help minimise any stress and answer any questions you may have about weddings at Bowood. Our aim is to make your wedding the day of your dreams and the memorable occasion it should be.

What on-site guest accommodation do you have available?

One of the joys of holding your wedding at a luxury hotel resort is the ample space for you and your guests! The happy couple can enjoy a complimentary room on the night of their wedding and we can secure up to 15 rooms at a great special rate for your guests.

In addition to our hotel bedrooms, just across the golf course, we have a beautiful Georgian Lodge – Queenwood Lodge which is available for exclusive hire. Queenwood Lodge offers accommodation for up to 8 people and is perfect for bridal party celebrations, wedding day preparations or as VIP hosted stay for the newlyweds.

The front of house team handle all of our accommodation bookings and are contactable on 01249 822228. Rates will be secured in advance, and guests will be able to book once the signed contract has been received. 3 months prior to the wedding, all non-booked accommodation will be released for general sale. What rooms are licensed to hold civil ceremonies?

Our elegant Kerry Suite is licensed for up to 160 guests for your ceremony and wedding breakfast, with room to accommodate up to 250 guests for an evening reception.

Please make sure to book your registrar prior to confirming your booking at Bowood. To book a ceremony, call the Wiltshire Council Ceremony Team on 0300 003 4570.

When can I access the venue to set up?

Access is guaranteed from 6am on the morning of your wedding for suppliers to come and set up. The Kerry Suite is a popular venue for events most weekends, so unless otherwise discussed with your wedding co-ordinator, we are sadly not able to allow couples to set up the day before the wedding.  We can, however, take delivery of your decorations the day before, store and put them out for you.

Are you able to assemble flower arrangements and cake displays?

Wedding cakes & floral arrangements must be delivered and assembled by your supplier or a friend/family member on the day of the wedding. Unfortunately, Bowood cannot be held responsible for the storage & assembly of cakes or flowers prior to, during and after the wedding day.

What time will the bar close at the reception?

The Kerry Suite bar is licenced until 1am, last orders are called at 12:45am. For guests staying at the hotel, the Shelburne bar is open even later.

Can we have our wedding ceremony at Bowood House Chapel?

The beautiful chapel located within Bowood House is sadly not licensed for ceremonies. However, the Chapel can be used to hold a special blessing for up to 100 guests on your wedding day. As it is not licensed for ceremonies, the Bride & Groom will need to be legally married in advance prior to the blessing. There is an additional fee for a blessing at Bowood Chapel, the current price is approx. £2,000 + VAT and is subject to availability.

Can we provide our own catering?

Unfortunately, we don’t allow any outside catering. We have a fabulous team of in-house chefs at Bowood and our wedding menus are carefully crafted and cooked to perfection to make sure you have delicious quality food at your wedding.  If you have a particular request that is not on our menu, please speak to your wedding co-ordinator and we will do our best to accommodate this!

What catering options do you offer for children?

For children under 12, we can provide 2 different options. A 2-course meal from the children’s menu, or a half portion of an adult’s 3-course menu. Speak to your wedding co-ordinator or download our wedding brochure for pricing.

Can we bring our own wine?

As standard, we include half a bottle of our house red and white wine per guest within our wedding packages. We understand that everyone has their own preferences when it comes to wine and champagne and to accommodate this we offer an extensive wine list for the happy couple to choose from. If there is a particular wine that you would like that is no available on our wine list, if it is available in the UK we are happy to source this at a cost or alternatively you are more than welcome to provide your own. If you choose to bring in your own wine or champagne, we charge a corkage fee of £20 per 75cl bottle on wines, and £30 per 75cl bottle on sparkling wines.

Can you provide and venue decorations?

While the Kerry Suite is a beautiful space as it is, you may wish to personalise it with decorations such as flowers, props, lights, photo booths, bunting… whatever takes your fancy! We can provide mirror plates and tea lights for centrepieces, and we have a fairy light canopy available. However, The Kerry Suite is all yours with which to decorate how you wish and our wedding co-ordinators can help make your ideas come to life and suggest suppliers if you need any help. We work closely with a number of talented supplier that will be more than happy to help you – please see our recommended suppliers list for more information.

Do you allow confetti?

Yes, of course! The ‘confetti shot’ is up there with our favourite wedding photos. However, we do ask that all confetti thrown must be biodegradable if used outside, and non-biodegradable if used inside.

Are dogs allowed at Bowood?

Unfortunately, no dogs are allowed on site.

Can we bring in our own entertainment?

Absolutely! You are more than welcome to hire their your own choice of live band or DJ for your evening entertainment or indeed both! Whoever you book will need to provide their own equipment, and will need to finish playing by 12.30am.

Can we book Bowood exclusively for our wedding?

As well as a luxury wedding venue, we are also a popular Golf Club and Spa resort. As such, we generally cannot facilitate an exclusive booking for weddings. If you have a particularly large wedding, please speak to one of our wedding co-ordinators and we will do our best to facilitate you.

Can we have fireworks?

You are more than welcome to have a freworks display on your wedding day. We have 2 different areas from which this can take place. All fireworks displays must be carried out by a qualified Pyrotechnic company, from whom we will need Public Liability Insurance and a returnable deposit. We sadly cannot allow any Chinese lanterns to be released, however, you can provide sparklers if you wish. Please speak to your Wedding Coordinator for more details.

Can we have photos taken in the grounds at Bowood House & Gardens?

As well as having photographs in the beautiful hotel grounds, some couples decide to head over to the gardens of Bowood House for some special shots. As this is not a standard inclusion in our wedding packages, we do charge a fee of £300 inc. VAT for this to take place. Please note that photos are available only in the months that Bowood is open to the public, they must take place in the gardens rather than the House, photos in the grounds are solely for the Bride, Groom and their photographer – no guests are permitted. How do I book Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort for our wedding?

We’re really pleased that you have chosen Bowood as the venue for your special day. To secure your date we require a £1,000 non-refundable / non-returnable deposit, along with 2 signed copies of the contract. Please email to confirm your booking.

Do you host any wedding open days or Showcases?
